Overwhelmed by AI? How REALTOR®s can fix one thing first

Map the business, circle the job that annoys you most, and let AI take that one first.

The short version: Don't start with AI tools. Start with your business. Map it from the moment a lead comes in to the moment the deal closes, find the single most aggravating task, and hand just that one job to AI. Use it for a week. Then pick the next one.

The question I hear most about AI is "where do I start?" Things are changing so fast that it's easy to freeze, or to sign up for ten tools at once and quietly drop all of them by the end of the month.

In 22 years as a REALTOR®, it was never the big jobs that wore me down. It was the small ones that came back every single day.

Four steps

  1. Map your business, lead to close. Write down every step: the inquiry comes in, the first reply, the consultation, showings, the offer, conditions, closing and the follow-up after.
  2. Find the most aggravating task. Not the most impressive one. The one you dread, put off or keep redoing.
  3. Fix that one. Set it up, use it every day for a week and adjust it until it fits how you work.
  4. Then take the next job. Only once the first one is part of your routine.

What makes a good first job

The best candidates are a little boring. They repeat every week, they follow a clear workflow, and they have a clear "done". Sorting the morning inbox, following up after a client meeting and recapping a day of showings all qualify. "Help me with marketing" does not. It's too vague to check.

Mine was email

I was checking email at 9, at noon and at 2. Now an AI assistant sorts my inbox each morning into worth a look, FYI and noise, and drafts replies. When I have a minute, I type one word, "triage", and it sorts whatever has come in since. I wrote up how that works in Email triage for REALTOR®s.

Keep the approval step

Whatever job you pick first, the rule is the same: AI prepares the work, and you check it before anything reaches a client. Your brokerage and regulator may have their own rules on AI, so check those too. This isn't legal advice.

That's how REALClarity Pro is built: one workflow, one job, set up in the accounts you already use. Not sure which job to start with? The free Workflow Check takes about five minutes and points you to a first job.
