The Pocket Leak: stop losing follow-through in your pocket

The short version: So many good real estate relationships start at a coffee shop or a community event. Then they end up in your pocket: a scrap of paper, or a mental note that is gone by the time you reach your car. I call it the Pocket Leak. The fix is small. Record a 60-second voice note before you start the engine. An AI assistant turns it into a draft follow-up and a reminder. You review the draft and send it yourself.

I spent 22 years as a REALTOR®. The best introductions rarely started in a formal appointment. They started over coffee, at a school event, or after a neighbourhood chat. The hard part was never the conversation. It was remembering what you promised once you were back in the car and your phone started pinging.

What the Pocket Leak looks like

You have a useful chat. You jot a name on a napkin, or you tell yourself you will remember. By the time you pull out of the parking lot, the detail is fuzzy. By tomorrow, the follow-up never happens. The relationship did not fail in the meeting. It leaked on the way home.

The 60-second fix

  1. Voice note first. Before you start the engine, record about 60 seconds. What you talked about, what you promised, when to follow up.
  2. A draft and a reminder. An AI assistant turns that note into a draft follow-up email and a reminder for tomorrow.
  3. You review and send. You read every word, change what you want, and send it yourself. Nothing goes out until you check it.

You stay in the moment. The follow-through stops depending on memory.

Why this fits how REALTOR®s already work

This is one narrow job. Capture what just happened, prepare the next step, and leave the judgment call with you. It matches the same habit as fixing one thing first and the morning triage pattern in email triage before your day starts: the assistant prepares the work, you approve it.

If you want a weekly content habit that uses the same review-before-send rule, I wrote about that in Consistency wins: 10 minutes every Friday.

Prefer to have this set up for you? That is what REALClarity Pro does: one workflow at a time, with drafts you check before anything goes out. Or book a free 20-minute call if you want to talk through where follow-through is leaking in your week.
